How I'm paid

The first thing you should know is that there is no charge or obligation when you talk with me. If you are an existing client with a question, or someone who was referred to me, or if you are just a curious visitor to my website, you can always schedule an appointment to talk over your situation in a casual and welcoming way. That's what I'm here for, and it's one of the most enjoyable parts of my work.

I am paid:

1) a percentage, based on assets under management for an investment advisory account (commonly referred to as a "managed", "advisory" or "fee-based" account); or

2) a commission when purchasing an investment or insurance product; or

3) a fee for financial planning services.

Financial planning services are offered for fees that vary with the complexity of the plan, the number of personal or business-related issues you want the plan to address, etc. For a description of what a financial plan can do for you, see the Retirement Planning and/or Business Owners pages.

You are entitled to a full explanation of payment options from any Financial Advisor you talk to, before placing your assets in a specific investment or insurance program. A Financial Advisor who is evasive about costs might not be worth your trust.

The work I do takes time, attention, knowledge and judgment. If those are the elements you are looking for, I believe they are worth paying for.
